October Update: UNICO Music Therapy Program at Palm Beach Children's Hospital
Thank you for being there for us, from the patients and families at PBCH.
This child just received a new diagnosis and will be at the hospital for several weeks. She expressed sadness about not being able to go home and she appeared anxious as evidenced by a lack of eye contact and limited communication.
Her parents expressed she had an interest in learning instruments so the MT-BC took her to the hospital piano where they were able to non-verbally express themselves through musical improvisation. Pictured, she even had her sloth, assisting her in writing a song. She was also gifted a Ukulele, thanks to UNICO.

After an extended stay in the hospital, this little girl was a great candidate for some developmental stimulation. A CATPB music therapy team member utilized age appropriate songs to provide auditory and visual stimulus, assess developmental milestones, and promote developmental/sensory play. She enjoyed showing off her fine motor skills while playing the xylophone.
